EPISODE 94: PREVIEWING HAWAII SANDLOT AND MORE WITH FIVE TOOL SOCAL DIRECTOR TIM ARAKAWA

Five Tool SoCal Director and Hawaii native Tim Arakawa joins to preview the upcoming Hawaii Sandlot event, which will include over 150 talented prospects from Hawaii. Tim, a former Oklahoma State standout who reached AAA in the Angels organization, also shares his unique baseball journey that began in Hawaii, discusses Five Tool’s coverage in Southern California and more.

The 2022 Five Tool Hawaii Sandlot Classic enters its third year in existence. In the past two years, this event has seen players get recruited through Five Tool social media channels to various Division I (Power 5 Included), Division II, Division III, NAIA, and junior college schools. Players will showcase their skills on Day 1 at the Five Tool Pro-Style Combine. On Day 2-4, players will be split into teams with one game per day and compete for a championship on Day 4 (the top two teams will square off). There will be eight teams to compete on Field 4 for the Sandlot Classic and 4 teams to compete on Field 1 for the "Underclass Only" portion of the Sandlot Classic.

All activities will be held at the Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park. College coaches will be in attendance and full social media coverage provided with over 2,000 scouts and colleges following Five Tool channels online.

Players can opt-in to recruitment video packages which will features all highlights from the event. Day 1 will include 60s, defense and batting practice highlights. Day 2-4 will feature pitching and offensive highlights. Players can use these videos to share with college coaches and scouts as well as add it to their personal collection of baseball highlights. Colleges have recruited players through these recruitment videos seen on the Five Tool YouTube page (15.9K followers and good for college coaches).

Players will receive two jerseys each. Players are expected to wear their high school hats to represent their school.

This event will coincide with the launch of the new Five Tool website. Leaderboard will be kept for the Showcase portion of the event which will be featured on the new home page. Players will see their videos posted automatically to the new Five Tool website (player profile included) along with the Five Tool Hawaii Twitter page. A brand new baseball social media experience is coming, and the Sandlot Classic will be the first to experience this from Five Tool. Players will receive profiles from the event and two free months of subscription to the new Five Tool website.

Players will be invited to four Zoom meetings ahead of the event with details to be announced. Pitchers will be invited to a pre-event bullpen to receive Pocket Radar tagged videos. Videos will be added to the new Five Tool website from this event.
